Dental Implants

Here at One Family Dental, we will always strive to save and retain your natural teeth. Unfortunately, if the decay is too advanced or the tooth to be repaired, or the gums and supporting bone have been compromised due to periodontal disease, the tooth may need to be extracted.

In the past, the only options for missing teeth were bridges and dentures. Fortunately, we now have a more attractive way to regain a beautiful smile – dental implants.

At One Family Dental, we are committed to helping people improve their dental health and feel confident about their smile. This is why we offer dental implant treatments for those interested in a solution to replace any missing teeth. Dental implants look and feel so natural, you may not even notice the difference when looking at your teeth in the mirror!

However, dental implants are not suitable for everyone. Installing dental implants requires healthy bones and gums, so a thorough examination is needed to determine if there are any existing dental issues to address before proceeding. We always suggest a complete checkup for cavities and gum disease as a first step before considering dental implants.

Sometimes, we need to consider the option for an implant, even before removing the bad tooth. Your dentist will determine if a simultaneous bone preservation or “grafting” procedure is needed at the same time of extracting your tooth.

Once we determine you are a suitable candidate for a dental implant, a titanium screw (the implant) will be installed under the gum line and secured to the jawbone. Over the following months, this implant will integrate with your natural jawbone — soon after, we’ll be able to use our digital scanning technology to take a model of your bite and gums, and fabricate a new crown to install on the implant. Your tooth will look and feel as good as a new tooth!
